Our church is only a couple of miles from our house and we are very active in worship and service to our Lord there.  Two worship services each Sunday morning provide both contemporary and traditional worship for the congregation.

One of my favorite places to serve is within the United Methodist Women's organization.  We not only support local, but also global ministries thru the United Methodist Church.  Each year we hold a major fundraiser to help with those ministry needs.  For the past three years we have presented a Tea and Vintage Style Show.  It has been so successful that we are doing it again this year (2007).  The date has been set, Sunday, August 12, 3:00-5:00 p.m and we are looking forward to another successful event.  I have had the pleasure of coordinating the style show each year and this year all new/different vintage clothing will be featured.  For more information about tickets click on the contact link at the bottom of the page.

The tables were decorated with a theme of choice by the hostess.  Evia and I decorate several with the Red Hat theme.  It was a beautiful sight to see the diversity of ideas put forth in decorating the 32 tables for the tea.

The young ladies in this picture modeled crepe paper dresses from the 1940's and the young gentleman (my grandson) modeled a suit his dad had worn some 40 years before.

I'm modeling a dress, hat and gloves from the 1950's.  Some said I reminded them of Doris Day in that outfit.  I love vintage clothes and have a wonderful collection of dresses, hats, purses and jewelry from the 1920's thru the 1960's.  As is with my Coca-Cola collection, many people have shared special items from their past with me to include in my collection or in the shows that I coordinate.

For a Valentine's Day celebration, the choir sponsored an old fashion Box Supper.  Twelve boxes were decorated by the ladies and the guys bid on them in order to have dinner with their sweetheart who brought the box.  Don certainly had to pay more than the food was worth in my box as it was ham sandwiches, plus trimmings.  The proceeds went to the choir and will be used to help fund musical productions of all kinds.

I decorated my box in the theme of "my other hobby", red hatting.
